Does Hip Hop make kids have sex?
September 08, 2006
This very question keeps popping up over and over again; so much so, that a Christian minister has devoted his life to telling people The Truth About Hip Hip. Should Hip Hop artist take more responsibility for the music they promote? Comment and tell us what you think!

I believe music as well as movies and other forms of entertainment have too much influence the decision to have sex. Movies and music paint an unrealistic picture of sexual relations in this day and time. Sex in the right context and relationship has extremely positive results. Outside of that ideal relationship where both parties are truly monogomous and committed to one another, negative consequences abound. Entertainers can do a better job of portraying both sides of the sex game. However, parents must take the initiative to educate their kids on what's real and what's not. Parental responsibility is the answer. If you know a rapper's CD is full of sex and violence, why would you allow your child to listen to that type of music? If you know that your child is bombarded daily with all these false sexual images, why not take the time to educate them about the negative consequences of having sex. Sex is natural, the attraction to one another that adolescents have is natural. They would have sex regardless of the music on the radio. I'm tired of music being blamed for everything. Give your kid options by educating them. Teenagers need to know that sex is not all fun and games. It can result in pregnancy, disease, broken hearts, etc. Be real with your children!
