Songs Promoting Safe Sex

In my search for artist and songs that promote safe sex I found that there were not many. Most songs today talk about having sex. When you get to the conclusion no one talks about the consequences. The consequences of having sex like getting STD’s. People getting diseases like herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, and HIV, which lead to AIDS. Some of these diseases lead to death.

Lyfe Jennings is one artist that believes in abstinence and having safe sex. You can see this by the public service announcements he has done for the RAP-IT-UP Campaign. Another way you can see and hear this is through his song SEX. Lyfe began his singing career at a young age. He started singing in his church choir in Toledo. Mr. Jennings was in a singing group in the late 80’s but that ended in 1990. He later on got back into music while he was in prison in Ohio (where he started a music program). Lyfe was serving a 10-year prison term for an arson-related charge.

Lyfe’s fight for girls to have good morals and ethics when it comes to sex is very rare when it comes to male singers and rappers etc. The song SEX is about a young 17- year old girl struggling with the decision to have sex. The guys are noticing her and she is noticing them back. But Lyfe is basically telling young girls to think before they let it go.

When you get to the bottom of what he is he trying to say. You can apply it to situations that all females go through. Some males will tell a female what she wants to hear to get in between her legs. Males tend to have one-track minds sometimes.

Then you have the issue of the females out here that will give it up at the drop of the hat. They will drop their underwear for a male before you can say live to know. Then you got the video girls in the videos shaking there butts everywhere promoting sex. Not to mention the fact that they are half dressed. What kind of message is that sending to young girls? Males tend to want what they see on these videos, in the strip clubs, and the type of girl that they have had before. The type of girl that will give it up time they meet her. This is the type of female you do not want to be. Have some respect for yourself when it comes to sex. Be the good girl that has good morals and ethics. Be the type of female that a good guy wants to marry and take home to his parents.

In conclusion like Lyfe says in his song SEX “once its gone you’ll never get it back”. The innocence you have you need to keep it and not give that up. Never let anyone talk you into having sex. Have patience and God will send you that special someone. Be strong and in time you will get what God has for you. Next time you get in a situation stop and think before you let it go.
