The new contraceptive pill Plan B has been all over the news lately. President Bush seems to like the idea of making it accessible over the counter for teens under the age of 18. Abstinence-Only programs, Are they effective?

What is abstinence? Abstinence: 1. voluntary forbearance especially from sexual intercourse; 2. the act or practice of refraining from indulgence in an appetite, as for certain foods, drink, alcoholic beverages, drugs, or sex. Abstinence is to refrain from all types of sexual activity including vaginal sex, anal sex, oral sex, outercourse (dry sex or grinding), mutual masturbation, etc. Even though, some of the previous types of sex cannot result in pregnancy, transmission of disease is still possible... ![]()

In my search for artist and songs that promote safe sex I found that there were not many. Most songs today talk about having sex. When you get to the conclusion no one talks about the consequences. The consequences of having sex like getting STD’s. People getting diseases like herpes, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, and HIV, which lead to AIDS. Human Immunodeficiency Virus
HIV is a virus that slowly destroys the immune system. This virus infects certain white blood cells. These blood cells are called T4 helper cells. T4 helper cells help regulate the immune system. When people get the HIV virus these cells are destroyed. This stops the body from fighting off infections and some types of cancers like lymphoma. MSNBC, Teens don't use condoms

I came across a disturbing article on MSNBC. The article reported that over half of teens admitted to not using condoms during sexually intercourse.
