Rap-It-Up Film Contest, Finalist Selected

BET Networks, The Kaiser Family Foundation, and The Black Aids Institute announce the Rap-It-Up Film contest finalist. The contest, formally named the Rap-It-Up Black Aids Short Subject Film Competion (RIU/BASS), was highly publicized on BET (Black Entertainment Television). The goal of the competition was to help raise the awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic within the black community. The film competition received over 150 entries, but unfortunately everyone can't be a winner.

So far, the field of participants has been narrowed down to 10 finalists who will be eligible to proceed to the next round of the competition:

  • Beverly Abbott, Casey Arrillaga & Wyndle Jordan (Reseda, CA)
  • Mya Baker (Brooklyn, NY)
  • Blu Fox (North Hollywood, CA)
  • Menelek & Tafari Lumumba (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Layla Mashavu (Los Angeles, CA)
  • Johneshia McCray (Philadelphia, PA)
  • Jerry McGill (Phoenix, AZ)
  • Elliot Porter (Chicago, IL)
  • Cassandra Riddick (Washington, DC)
  • Kimberly Singleton (New York, NY)
